Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign up with email or with Google, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile (name, email, and Google account identifier) — we never receive your Google password.
• Test activity. Your practice-test attempts, answers, scores, and progress so we can show your results and history.
• Technical data. Basic request data such as IP address and approximate country (used for security and analytics), and authentication cookies that keep you signed in.

2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
• To deliver mock tests and store your results and progress.
• To send transactional emails such as email-verification and account notices.
• To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your Google profile data for advertising.

3. Service providers we share data with

We use trusted third parties solely to operate the Service. Each processes only the data needed for its function:

• Google — sign-in (OAuth) and transactional email delivery.
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram): measuring which of our ads bring students to TestMimic. See Cookies below for what Meta receives and how to turn it off.

4. Cookies

Necessary cookies. We use cookies to sign you in and keep your session active. These are never used for advertising, and the Service cannot work without them.

Advertising cookies (Meta). We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and use the Meta Pixel and Meta’s Conversions API to see which ads bring students to TestMimic. When this is on, Meta receives:

• the pages you visit on testmimic.com;
• when you sign up, start a test, finish a test, or reach a free limit, with the exam and module (for example IELTS Writing);
• technical details that let Meta match these to an ad: your IP address, browser, country, Meta’s own cookie identifiers, and a one-way hashed (unreadable) copy of your email address and account ID. We never send the email address of an account created with Google sign-in.

Your answers, essays, recordings and scores are never shared with Meta.

Your choice. Visitors from the EU, the UK and Switzerland are asked first, and nothing is sent to Meta until they choose Allow. Everyone else can turn it off. Either way, choose Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change your answer at any time. If you choose No thanks, nothing more is sent to Meta, and we ask again after six months at the earliest. Your choice is stored in a cookie named tm_ad_consent.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and test data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Contact below), after which we delete it except where retention is required by law.

6. Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you may withdraw consent for Google sign-in by revoking access in your Google Account permissions. To exercise any of these rights, contact us below.

7. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and scoped access credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
